Hardyville: Our mother, Joyce S. Johnson, died on August 15, 2017. She was 86 years old. She was born on August 12, 1931 in Christiansburg, Virginia and was the child of her loving parents, Stella and Clovis Slusher. She met and fell in love with our father, Anderson F. Johnson, Jr., during his senior year at Virginia Tech and they were married on June 18, 1950. She had two sons, Michael Lee Johnson of Hardyville, Virginia and William Eric Johnson of Bavon, Virginia. Our parents spent most of their lives in Reading, Pennsylvania and eventually retired to Deltaville, Virginia where they lived the remainder of their days together until our father died in 2013. Our mother was predeceased in life by her sister, Anne McClusky, and her brother, Billy Slusher, who died at Anzio Beach in World War II. In addition to her sons, she is survived by her loving cousin, Carolyn Fenno and five grandchildren. Services will be private, and in memory of our mother, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue Department Squad, P. O.
