Lana A. Loring

Lana Ambrosius Loring passed away peacefully on December 24, 2020, at Gloucester House in Gloucester, Virginia. She was born on December 27, 1945, in Hanover, Pennsylvania to Arthur and Marian Ambrosius. In 1968 she moved to Gloucester and began a teaching career that lasted 32 years. She was a graduate of Old Dominion University. She loved teaching, singing, playing golf, and helping people. A beautiful smile and infectious laugh along with her loving and compassionate nature made her a friend to everyone she met.Lana was a member of the York River Circle of the King’s Daughters, Walter Reed Garden Club, Gloucester Retired Teachers Association, Gloucester County Friends of the Library, Bethany United Methodist Church, and the Gamma Nu chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, where she was a member of the Tuneful Teachers. Lana was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Marian Ambrosius; brother Ned Ambrosius; niece Andrea Neiderer. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Roger Loring; sister Bonnie Miller of Hanover, Pennsylvania, and brother Richard (Susan) Ambrosius of Spring Grove, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by nieces Lena (Jeff) Gavazzi of Weedville, Pennsylvania, and Vanessa (John) Mahaney of Spotsylvania, Virginia; nephews Chad (Kristel) Ambrosius of Traverse City, Michigan, and Shawn Ambrosius of New Oxford, Pennsylvania. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
